A weekly worklog report by user in Jira Cloud
Who logged what, by day, with short weeks flagged and leave taken into account.
Building it
- Create report. Source = the space or filter whose time you are reporting on.
- Add a Timesheet tab.
- Range: Last week. A moving range means the report and any dashboard gadget stay right every week without being edited.
- Group by: Person. Columns: Day to see each day, or Week for one number per week.
- Flag people under: the hours for one column, such as 6 for a day or 30 for a week. Holidays and each person's leave come off it, so a day off is not a short week.
- Save.
The Weekly time by person template is this report, ready made.
Set the calendar first
In Jira settings → Apps → RollGrid → Calendars, set the site time zone, which days are working days, hours per day, and your public holidays. These decide which day a worklog belongs to and how a short week is judged.
Add leave for anyone who takes time off. Leave is subtracted before the short-week flag is applied, so somebody off on Thursday is not reported as underworked.
By team
Fill in the team map on the same tab and switch grouping to Team. Anyone not in the map appears under "No team" rather than vanishing from the totals.
Worklogs at the edge of a day
Time logged late in the evening belongs to a different date depending on the time zone deciding it. A worklog is split at midnight in its author's time zone where that is known, because "what did I do on Tuesday" means their Tuesday. Where it is not known, the site time zone in admin settings is used.
If a weekly total matches another tool but the daily split differs by a few hours at the edges, this is almost always the reason.
An empty grid
Worklogs are found by searching for the work items that have them. An empty result means nobody in this report logged time in that range — a search that failed is reported separately, so the two are never confused.
Comments
Switch on worklog comments to show what each entry said. Off by default, because it makes the grid considerably longer.
